Nick Hawk Silicone Cock Ring Set in Purple

silicone-cock-rings-1Here’s a quick review of a pair of inexpensive silicone cock rings from California Exotic Novelties. I’ve seen them under the name of Hard Times and Nick Hawk. You can get a clear set at a great price from SheVibe (click here).

I love cock rings (see my collection pic) and while my favorites are made by Tantus, I’ve enjoyed playing with many others. These ringssilicone-cock-rings-2 come as a pair (available in purple or black) and they are fairly stretchy. The larger of the two rings has an inner width of 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm), while the smaller is 1 1/2 inch (3.75cm). I can stretch the larger one to a size that would fit around my foot but it’s tight. The smaller ring doesn’t stretch out as big.

There are some things I like and things I don’t like about these rings.

purple-cock-ring-on-dildoPositives: They are easy to clean and they do a good job of constricting, which is one of the main goals for a cock ring (click here for an introduction to cock rings). These rings do not retain any odor, and they do not smell on their own (read about unsafe toy materials here that often smell). I prefer the sensation and fullness of larger cock rings that go around my testicles, and the larger ring will accomplish that. It’s stretchy enough that you could put it on by stretching it out with your fingers and then just put it around your manhood. Just be careful to not let go of your fingers quickly – – unless you like the sensation of a super think rubber band thwacking your family jewels (ouch!).  The smaller ring is best for use on just the shaft of your penis.

Negatives: While it’s fairly easy to put the larger ring around the shaft and testicles, getting it back off is challenging. You could attempt to roll it off (ouch!), or you can stick an index finger on either side and start to stretch the ring out but this method also puts an even tighter constriction on your package during the removal process. Also, these rings tend to pinch hair fairly easily which can be uncomfortable.

silicone-cock-rings-3Let’s contrast the size differences of these Nick Hawk rings to a Tantus cock ring (in red). In the pic, you can see there’s a significant difference in the width, and somewhat surprisingly the wider width of the Tantus ring is far more comfortable. The wider Tantus ring doesn’t pinch hair as much as the smaller purple ring either, and it provides a more pleasurable sensation.

Conclusion: The Tantus cock ring is definitely superior but I was pleasantly surprised that this California Exotic Novelties’ cock ring set does seem to be made of a decent grade of silicone, and if you’re looking for something that’s cheaper than the $29 Tantus cock ring, it’s worth your consideration.
